You know, sometimes things can get a bit stressful.

If you are like me, not only do you prepare and study and get ready and makes plans while at the office, but you also do it when you are at home. Laying in bed you dream about both the good and the bad. It can get pretty stressful at times.

God doesn’t want us to suffer burn-out, which so many in ministry positions do. Maybe it is because we really don’t have a 9-5 time of doing things. We are in the office, emailing, calling, counseling, hospital visits, counseling visits, meetings with others and other ministers – and the list could go on and on.

A member of my congregation asked me to go golfing with him today, so we did. Now here is the thing, neither one of us is the next Tiger Woods or anything like that, we are both pretty bad actually, but we had fun.

I was focusing on this little white ball, and not the day to day agendas and problems that arise.

Here is the thing – it felt great.

My encouragment to anyone reading this: when you feel like you are in a pressure cooker – get out of it! Go out and have fun, either by yourself, with a friend, or with a family member. Don’t talk about the problems or the stresses, focus on just enjoying yourself and have fun.

That is good medicine. The stress can wait a little bit, focus on something else.
